NE Iowa | I'd start simple and work up the ladder. Try the salt / diet approach for a couple weeks. If that doesn't produce results, I'd seek health care advice - both physical and mental. I think the previous poster's suggestion about anxiety contributing to this could be a real deal, and a mental health counselor / therapist could help identify some simple fixes. Really, it doesn't matter what the root cause is, you've gotta get it figured out before she heads back to school. If she has any anxiety now, it could get worse if her friends started teasing her about this habit or giving her nicknames, etc.
