West Central Wisconsin | Excellent post! Your story is so similar it could be mine. I never would have thought that carbs were the bad guy and they controlled my body. They were the reason I was hungry all the time. When I was diagnosed with diabetes ten? years ago my doctor said I should reduce my carb intake and to reduce the spikes between meals I should snack, stoke the fire a little, he called it. When I started eliminating carbs I eliminated taking insulin and my blood sugar numbers are great. I had low blood sugar this past Sunday. The reason? I ate a piece of corn bread and a banana chocolate chip muffin with my morning coffee without eating any protein. Beside eliminating the need for insulin another positive effect of keto has been not having to use a cpap or bipap for my sleep apnea. I had to ask my wife if I stop breathing at night and she tells me that I hardly ever wake, gasping for air like I did before losing weight with keto. | |
