Subject: RE: Friday keto fish lunch during a covid 19 week

Pittsburg, Kansas

Back in my younger days when Catholics ate fish every Friday (instead of once a month now??) I remember a kid near midnight at a horse pulling contest during Weir Homecoming celebration. I must have been about 10 years old. He was hanging onto his sandwich not eating it while we watched the horses pull. I ask him why he just didn't eat it. He said the snack stand had ran out of fish sandwiches, he was Catholic, and he could not eat this ham sandwich till after midnight when it turned Saturday.

I thought that was the strangest thing and may have been my first introduction to Catholicism.

Later when I was a young man and went to a Polka dance, it was in a church building and the Priest was serving beer. Wow. What a change from my church, LOL

I have lots of friends that are Catholics. It just struck me that fish on Friday was a Catholic thing. Did not mean anything derogatory with it.

John
