Subject: RE: Finding / Buying A Foreclosed Home

DeKalb, IL
You can get to FHA-foreclosed homes from the HUD site, http://www.hud.gov/ . The management firm that runs HUD sales in Illinois requires bidding through a HUD-certified brokerage, all funds must be certified, and closing must be completed within 45 days of bid acceptance. Procedures for bank-foreclosed homes will vary from bank to bank, and from region to region. Most will be listed in a multiple listing service, because the bank wants to move their inventory of owned real estate and few of them are set up to market property. Financial institutions often drag their feet on these transactions, more so probably on short sales than on foreclosures.
