G'day, not sure that Kitchen table is the correct place, but here goes! We have a LG High definition TV, works well, excellent picture. It is the remote control that is giving us the irrates. Started playing up a few months ago, would not mute [are your adverts WAY higher than the program?] or change channels, or what seemed to be worst, would not bring up the channel guide, so that we could see other programs and timing. Most times removing the battery cover, making sure the two batteries were seated properly, by rotating them a bit, would remedy the fault. Last night that made no difference. Put brand new batteries in -and it worked - most times! Checked the batteries I removed with a multi-meter this morning. Both above1.5 volts - so they are not the problem. Put them back in and the remote worked! I see on e-bay generic remotes for LG costing about $18.00 Aud. Genuine LG - $70.00 Aud.[or just under]. Guessing that the electronics in the original are giving us the problem, and probably not much can be done apart from chuck it. Question! Would you buy generic, or go genuine.? [ guess the $70.00 won't break the bank!] |
