If you are the WHO and you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail? Need to stay relevant to stay funded?

Of course we are learning this in hindsight, and hindsight is always better than foresight. It is a very contagious virus so fear in the beginning was probably warranted. But now? Maybe it's more about "saving face" by continuation of lock down rather than science? Experts don't like to be perceived as being wrong.

Personally I think a vaccine is a dream. At best the same guess as the flu vaccine is. Have we wiped out the flu with a vaccine? Look at the annual flu deaths. I think lifestyle changes could make a lot more difference than a vaccine considering that nearly all the deaths from covid 19 are of people with health problems. Metabolic problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. Even vaccines that work are less effective in people with metabolic issues because their immune system is compromised. And vaccines work through improving the immune response. Get healthy then a person has a strong immune system.
