Pittsburg, Kansas | We were staying in a small hotel room with a kitchenette above the grocery store on Carriacou island (small sister island to Grenada) and there was no fresh meat in the store. So whatever we cooked for meat was canned meat, most of which was Spam or some generic brand thereof. One day I told Carolynn we were going to splurge. We bought a canned ham. Going to have some real ham instead of the ham/pork shoulder spam stuff. Bought, at significantly higher price, a canned ham in a teardrop shaped can. I swear it was teardrop shape spam. She knew and raised her eyebrows when I picked it up. It was ground up Spam. So much for eating higher on the hog. John |
