Subject: John Deere 4430 Oil

We have an 8 speed 4430 with well over 18,000 hours on it. Farm has had the tractor since it had 3,000 hours on it and as far as anyone can remember the transmission has never been touched.

Knowing that....I noticed something when I was changing the hydraulic oil filters. The 8 speed transmission tractors have 2 hydraulic oil filters. When we took the back one off, the oil that came out had a darker appearance to it. The oil out of the front filter looked completely fine.

Am I staring at a potential transmission failure/issue? Just wondering if it's time to part with the old girl or put money into the transmission soon
