Subject: well that was disappointing

Pittsburg, Kansas

That was a great program as far as it went. But it stopped short of giving the solution, other than bariatric surgery or drugs both of which are poor substitutes for simply changing the foods eaten. They touched on the fact of sugar and highly processed foods being a problem but stopped short of saying "get them out of your diet!". They also completely missed the elephant in the room, insulin. The highly processed foods, eaten too often and too much, keep insulin levels high eventually leading to insulin resistance. Ivor explains how highly processed carbohydrates over stimulate GIP cells in the upper part of the digestive system and cause us to over eat.

The PBS program had a lot of good information. It just stopped short of providing lots more current research on the subject. But they were right in that hormones drive our metabolism and desire to eat. They covered one of the hormones but completely ignored another even more important one, insulin. They also showed that exercise, while very beneficial for health, can't outrun a person's fork. Eat the right foods and most people will not need to exercise for weight loss.

If you want a much better explanation of the hormones that control hunger listen to a few of Ivor Cummins presentation. Because he will not only explain "how" it works, but methods to solve the problem. Without bariatric surgery or drugs.
