We’re running an Adams bed that looks like that. Previous owners cut access holes out and we haven’t had trouble with that. Those rack and pinion slide gates are not the best thing for sure. Maybe if I think of it I’ll post a picture but I think whoever cut these out cut bigger holes than you did.
