Faunsdale, AL | You can do it with a chunk of heavy wall pipe as well.
I cut some slots with a torch on all 4 sides of the cracked tubing between the opener mounting clamps on either side of the bad area,.....,probably 8 on each side.
Then I beveled the edges of the first end in and then drove the about 4-5’ piece in. When I got it flush on the end I took a disk gang bolt and bumped it in until it centered on the broken area.
Welded the cracked area in the center and all the precut slots. The area in the center had some depressed sections that the pipe pushed back out as it drove through there.
I did both front and back gangs at one time. Both were cracked even though the front was actually not lifting up all the way it was so bad.
I used the schedule 80 pipe because it was available locally.
