Things change and it's been a long time since I raised any rye but it likes to lodge real easily and 60# would have been a lot of N 25 years ago. Rye is also tough to combine for straw. Lots of volume, slow going and usually spots flat on the ground. If it could be swathed, it'd be much easier to harvest. It makes beautiful straw, very well worth the effort in that regard. I could never get over 50 bushel yields with it.
