Subject: RE: Farming with a 4020

Macon, IL
I started with a Massey 255 (50hp) and 160 acres-got a 6 row planter and went no-till. Besides a mower that was 100% of my equipment I used first year. Hired my crops harvested.

If I were doing it again would probably do similar-but man once you get a cab the days get shorter-especially if you can keep heat and air running. Also no-till (if it will work for you) saves a ton of money and hours getting started. But are you planning to grow more acres? How much time you have with day job?

Can a 4020 do the job-yea easy-my grandpa farmed 750 acres with two of em-full tillage-plowing every acre every year. But man it takes a lot of time. Sprayer can accomplish so much of what he spent in time and hp and hours on tractor.

Hiring spraying in no till-in which you will have more sprayer passes to replace tillage gets expensive. Sprayer will pay for itself faster than about anything.
