A cup of veggie oil keeps trap from drying out So soon. Pure water doesn't last to long. RV antifreeze works well also and is cheap.
Smell the drain first hand. IF it really is that drain clean out all hair and gunk. sani-sticks may help. All else fails replace trap. As said , IF vent is too far from the stool may suck shower trap too dry.
