7024 is a flat or horizontal position rod, 1 is a all position rod, 2 is for flat/horizontal positions. 4 means it has iron powder in the rod increasing deposition rate.

I won’t use any rod that’s not numbered because I want to know what I’m welding with, the exception would be a high nickel rod.
