100 miles north of the NYC crapper
Not much insight on your problem but I had one of those engines back in my you get days that was one tough sob. Mine was a 71 and started out in a Ford Torino. It had a 4sp tranny and was a nice car. I bought it in 74 for $1700 with 40k miles on it. Got off in the rubarb one night and that was the end of that car but not the engine. Then I got a 68 Torino GT that I put it in. Was sauced up one night and rolled that one Put the motor in another identical 68. Had some bad luck on black ice with that one. Then it’s final stop was in a 1970 cobra pictured below on my wedding day in 1980. I picked it up after a girl that had it put a rod out the side of the 429 that was in originally for $700. That thing had the tar beaten out of it for a lot of years and just ran. I forget how many miles it had but it was well north of 200k
