Hey all,

I have a friend with a 8830 Ford MFWD that is currently having low power trouble.

Backstory: He bought it, and it would get hot doing heavy tillage. They tried a different radiator and no improvement, IIRC new water pump, t-stats, etc.

Finally ended up pulling the head and replacing the head gasket, and while the head was apart, they had it redone by a local shop and when they put it together they also put new injectors in from All States Ag Parts.

Now, it wont overheat, but does not have the power it once did.

He is convinced its the cheap injectors and now has a set on its way from New Holland.

When fighting the heating issue they retarded the timing just a hair to see if it would help. They have not put it back.

I am convinced he needs to pressure check the air-to-air to make sure its not leaking, but he says it does not smoke enough to be that. Do these have an Aneroid that would be holding the fuel back with low boost?

The turbo passes visual inspection (no damaged or worn fins, no shaft play, etc.)

Right now he is trying to pull a 5x5 (23 ft cut) blade plow in stubble that was worked last fall with this 170 PTO HP MFWD powershift tractor and its struggling at 3.5 mph. We pull the same size with a 161 PTO HP 2wd manual shift tractor, and it runs 4.5 -5 mph without any power trouble.

Any help appreciated,
Thanks!
