Exactly, even if you have the dirt holding and hiding covers you really should spray off the components. Such a standard practice here that we have added a place to store a few cans of brake clean on the back of tractors and combine heads, all of them have a handy supply!

Be careful with the brake clean It wipes out the o-rings in some couplers. electromotive or cheap ether with a no-smoking rule strictly enforced really works the best for us.
