Middlesex County, Ontario
We’ve had several of both. They are popular in chicken barns for cleaning top floors with a dozer blade. That was our main application as well. We also had a mower and several chicken barn specialty attachments.

They are a torque monster. It will either push/pull it, or it will spin. It will never stall out.

The transaxles are two speed. High range is borderline scary fast.

The transaxles are pretty common and very robust. Parts are not an issue. On the old Steiner machines the axle trumpets can work loose, best to check them once a year.

The gas powered models will overheat when ran very hard (dozing). The diesel models are just a little heavy and have a little less power. We never owned a diesel.

The articulating steering wears you out. We didn’t know that until switching to something else.

We use a Deere 1025r now. It uses less fuel, doesn’t overheat, is much more comfortable to operate, parts more available, easier to work on, and more importantly it actually pushes more manure.
