I think this defies physics if the rod length and crank throw are fixed.
It doesn't violate anything. It IS physics.
Draw out a piston and crank on paper using accurate measurements. Note the piston position when the crank is in three positions. Top, middle, and bottom of rotation. When the crank is in the middle of its rotation, the piston is NOT in the middle of the stroke. This effect is very obvious on engines with short connecting rods, and is nearly non-existent on extremely long connecting rods. |
