SEON | If I recall back to my Mopar V8 engine days, the 340 was internally balanced (the crankshaft was balanced) and the 360 was externally balanced (a harmonic balancer was bolted to the front of the crankshaft instead of balancing the crankshaft). Some of you may recall that the 340 was a high rpm screamer and the 360 was a low rpm "truck engine". Internally balanced was said to be better but externally balancing was cheaper. I don't recall too many 360's breaking cranks. | |
