Subject: RE: planting memories

Pittsburg, Kansas

The earliest ones I have are of an 8N ford and a 3pt hitch 2 row IH planter. I can't remember for the life of me if it was a horse planter converted to a tractor planter, or if it was just one of those built in transition days and had factory 3pt. It had high wheels, maybe 3' tall and runner openers. Had a seat on it and I remember riding back there as a little kid. I think the seat was made for someone to manage the check wire if the corn was being checked. Dad planted checked corn but in an earlier day before my time.

The 8N did the planting while the B JD worked the ground.
