Floyd County, Iowa | I think a lot of people around here (I was one) think of a fox squirrel when the word"red" is used. They are bigger than the gray squirrels, and are tasty. We've always called the fox squirrels red squirrels, gray squirrels are called just that, and these reds are referred to jack squirrels.
Yes, those little red (jack) squirrels are no larger than a weasel. You could starve if you had to survive on them. | |
