Floyd County, Iowa | We've got some around here, too. We've always called them Jack squirrels.
I use a Ruger 10-22 with hollow points. Wife uses either 12 gauge or .410, depending on her mood, after they've been in her flowers or garden. A rat trap with peanut butter works, too.
I had them get into shed and build a nest in the combine (no damage, though). The cats got the young ones, so they moved out of there.
We've got (or had) some Fox squirrels around, and liked them. They just cleaned up the walnuts and stayed away from buildings. But these little bastards get into everything and raid the bird nests, too. | |
