| Same here. We always had little choice for internet - and slow speeds. They ran a fiber into a common point and are using the existing wires from there. We live in the Hills, and the houses are spaced out - not easy to install anything. Wire works just fine. With a longer run, you will lose some speed, but not for a couple of hundred yards. I just tested our connection - 39 ms ping and 61.01 Mbps. When we first got DSL here, we thought 1 Mbps was blazing fast. When I first got connected to the internet I remember 14.4 khz. I think that was in 1991. I had an 80286 6 Mhz computer that I would let run for days optimizing on a model. I'm getting old. | |
