Local provider is putting fiber optic into our office and they are also putting service out to our shop. I see they ran the fiber to the office then ripped in what appears to be copper cat5 cable out to the shop. The fiber comes up to the outside of the office then copper into the office also. Not sure how long you can run the copper like that, but hard wire is a sure thing once it is installed. I have had a radio link to my house for several years and it has worked pretty well, but there have been a couple of instances where we had trouble with the link. If you can go hard wire I think that is a more permanent and trouble free installation, but the radio links also work. Got a nephew that has the same fiber we have at our house now, and he shoots it several miles to a brother and also his dad at their house. Put up a tower on each end of the leg. The radio link we uses at our house (till we got the fiber in) was only on the peaks of our house and the shop. Can't give you a lot of specifics. But the radio links do work. John |
