Actually a neighbor stopped by today to talk to me. As I approached his truck he got out and as I got closer to him he stepped back. It took me a second and realized what he was doing...
I have noticed this. It’s awkward as heck. No more hand shaking. I am currently working in another state and on a typical day talk to maybe three or four new people that I haven’t ever met because I am going on their property. There is only one case in the entire county where I am at so no one here seems too concerned but still I try to keep my distance and not shake hands but it is hard. This one older man insisted on shaking hands and getting closer to me probably so he could hear.
I try and follow the guidelines and personally won’t close that gap on someone, but it is really odd backing away from someone who is trying to talk to you. Also really weird not shaking hands when somebody reaches out.
