With a floor heat boiler for your shop or house, you would need antifreeze in the water so it didn't all freeze up and break if power went out or nobody around to fire the boiler. You really can't tap this hot coolant out for other uses if it's ant-freeze.


It would have to be really cold for a long time to need antifreeze. The slab retains a TON of heat. Keep it circulating and you could probably go close to a week without heat before freezing. Many have a battery backup to run a small circular in the event of an outage.
