Nwmo | Had a very similar thing happen here, the kid jumped out of her crib and buckle fractured her arm. We went to the ER that night and got an x-ray, they said nothing was broken and we got a bill for $1500. Turned out her arm was broken. I had no luck negotiating the bill at all. Insurance wasn't involved at that point because we were on an HSA with a high deductible. I messed around with them for a couple of months and I was going to get turned over to corrections so I paid it. Now here is the kicker the hospital would have completely forgiven the debt because we made under a certain amount of income for the number of people in our household. All I would have had to do is take them a tax return and 6 months of check account activity. That would have wiped out all the hospital bills for the next 6 months also. Now we know why a bad xray cost $1500. | |
