I guess I didn't make that distinction. I suggested creating a new prescription where the map was a grid, not editing the layer as a grid. Try this.

1. Make a map of the old planting data
2. ADD to that map whatever layer you are trying to make a prescription from (yield, or soil test etc). Set the transparency to 50%
3. make it into a grid map
4. make a NEW prescription layer using the rates you want, and match to the legend of the data in step 2
5. when you get to the final screen where you see a full map of your prescription set the transparency to 50%, and you should see the planting data from step 1
6. use the paint can on the left to make the different rates where you need to, and save

I suppose depending on the base data you imported to SMS, some of these steps won't make sense, so in that case you need to add more details (and perhaps screenshots).

Ah! I got it. My original zone map I had to set to a contour layer rather than grid, which eliminated the extra elevation lines on the map and I was then able to draw a polygon using the divide tool to draw over the grid lines. Now.... if I export the map for use in a trimble screen, do I need to trim the edges or do anything to the map to align it with the field boundary saved in the trimble screen? Particularly, if say a prescription was created from a pro600 yield file and then the final prescription exported to a trimble screen? Do I need to somehow merge the data? The points will be close anyway as the yield mapping points will correlate with the position on the trimble screen anyway. FYI we are using the FMX app on a TMX-2050 display.
