East central Iowa | I watch a lot of Westerns and often there's a shootout where one draws on the other. Yesterday was an old Gunsmoke where Matt was outdrawn but the guy wasn't aiming so he had to be close. Reading about some of the old west it's kind of evident that there weren't a lot of fast draw contests in real life. But watching some of these I wonder if the film was sped up to make it look faster. I watched an episode of Laramie one day in which a guest star was riding and when he came down the hill they sped up the video. It was pretty evident that people such as "Jess" and "Slim" or "Matt" really were good riders and I've always been impressed by how their horses were trained. It also seemed that "Jess" on Laramie was one of the fastest guns on TV but he wasn't in movies and Bob Munden named two other people as the fastest and second fastest, two very unusual people in relation to Westerns.
So who do you think was the fastest gun and who was the best horseman/woman?
