NW Iowa | The word of the day is "rational." A rational commodity market's main function is to "ration" supply. Right now there is strong demand and national security interest in keeping the supply lines open and current. Sadly as seems to be the case when something goes wrong the packers are rewarded for this and the producers are punished. This market is so emotional and not rational right now.
Though the boxed beef price has come down some this is to be expected following record gains and is still at very high levels. | |
