Read the article. Meat packing houses have workers (according to this article) elbow to elbow in lines cutting meat. It is a trained skill worker. Entire shifts could be put on quarantine shuttering entire plants at the worst. One beef packing plant was shut down because of a fire and look what it did last year. Backlogs of overfat animals not having a place to slaughter are at risk here. It is actually great for feed demand since a 250-300 pound hog eats a ton and has horrible feed efficiency. It has more to do with profitability of raising the animals. Look at the meat isle of the nearest wall mart. It is bare and every time the is a shipment it get used up rapidly. It is a bigger story for farmers then you want to admit.
