Yes if you are talking about folding green paper with presidents on them there are not enough right now but an infinite number can be produced. Lets say bank runs do happen and the government says something like okay 2 week bank holiday while we print more physical dollars. They design and pump put millions of 10000 dollar notes with Ronald Reagan on them and a variety of other denominations to satisfy the public demand for physical cash and expand the Feds balance sheet so things stay in balance, they must have break the glass plans for this or they would come up with one in a hurry.
There is no conceivable way that they would print a $10,000 note, or even a $1,000. They don't want to make it easier for off-the-books large cash transactions.
I don't even think that they would print a $500 note in the next ten years, but maybe they would, under the right conditions.
Now, a bank holiday while they ship semi-loads of Ben Franklins across the country might very well happen. But there will be no $10,000 notes. |
