SW ND
We are having severe low ph issues in the area I farm. We have ph in the 4-4.5. We are strictly no till and have been for 25 years. No one has limed until about 3 years ago when we start figuring out what was going on to our ph from applying nitrogen and sulfur. Our yields are suffering. We still don’t know exactly if lime is helping that much because no one wants to work the lime in. We have seen the benefits of no till saving soil moisture for us. I know studies say it will work in no til. Do we need to bite the bullet and start working the ground when we lime? Who has limed when there soil has become this low in ph and been strictly no till? Our soil ph is better once you get deeper and below the nitrogen zones.
