I don't know if it's just me but anytime I've turned cattle out on grass, cows or calves it seems like they never want to eat anything other than green grass the first 2 days. Always put out a little hay in the feeder and the normal supplement in the bunks but they never seem to go for it
That is part of why I say open the gate.
If you wait until the grass is taller and they can get a belly full they will, and go off feed while doing it.
If you get them out there now they'll still come to grain and pick at the hay when their belly is a little "off" from the grass. |
