NE Oregon | Spec traders are necessary and needed to provide liquidity. Without liquidity it would be incredibly easy for the big money players to drive the market and make it disjointed. I do think making delivery is absolutely a necessary function, but I think we could lower the barriers to making delivery in order to encourage that and keep the cash market and the futures markets current. More delivery points and greater education about how to make delivery would encourage more feeder guys to utilize the futures as price risk management instead of not using futures and then complaining about how only spec guys trade.
That would go a long way I think. | |
