Rod@night - 3/26/2020 11:57...  Would the sellers also be required to make delivery? Would every buyer be required to take delivery of every contract purchased? ...

What I would like to see is the ability to deliver or accept delivery.  Not necessarily forced delivery, just the ability to make it happen.  Basically anyone with cattle could sell and anyone who needs cattle can buy...or both could do either.  Take the pure speculators out of the equation.  That would still leave potentially millions of traders in the game.

Unfortunately that would leave the big packers as the biggest players and quite possibly not help us one darn bit.

Am I missing something, I always thought that there was delivery in the live cattle futures?

Theres a map on the CME website that shows delivery points.    https://www.cmegroup.com/trading/agricultural/livestock/livestock-delivery-overview.html

Now I don't know how many hoops you have to jump through to force delivery but at least it appears that it is an option.

There is NO delivery (none at all, never)  in the CME hog futures and as a result there is NO convergence vs the cash markets ever.
