My FIL does field peas and chick peas. They will walk through them, but they don't really like to if they don't have to. To intertwined and restricting. Don't really eat them much either. Maybe the outside edges some, but he's got corn, alfalfa, grass and other better stuff around. The antelope around here will stay away 90% of the time. They like hanging out on the prairie here more than fields. In the later fall, when they group up and migrate, you'll once in a great blue moon see them on the fields....still mostly the alfalfa/grass grazing the regrowth.
