western iowa | I have a 2013 Chevy 2500 ex cab with the 6.0 gas. I currently have a 6.6 x 24’ Sooner trailer. I like it being just a bit narrower and longer than my previous 7 x 20’ Wilson. Empty I am about 11,500#. I like to haul 12-14,000# of cattle max. That will easily fit in it. I have upgraded to 14 ply tires that have 95# of air in them. That is a good idea on this size trailer. Full 7’ wide may have internal fenders like my Wilson did. I like the 6’ 6” width for looking past it in the mirrors and no internal fenders. I get along ok pulling full loads but will pull down some in the hills. No way could I maintain 70 on the interstate loaded but I don’t need too. Like the extra room for hauling feeder cattle too. I just add up the weight for how many I figure I can haul. My Sooner is a cheaper brand with only one cut gate. And I rarely use it. Good luck!
