Folks are hording ground beef and the stores shelves are empty. Local slaughter guys want to meet that demand and are bidding up slaughter cows. Good time to release the culls you planned to sell anyway. Plus the price is normally higher in the spring. And a lot of small timers around here don't follow the markets enough to know that slaughter cows are up. Offerings are way down. That Turnersburg sale is normally double that number of head.
