AB. | More bale feeders spreads out the cows. Once they calve here they get kicked into the the area for calves with cows only. and again lots of bale feeders enough to feed the group for 3 days at a crack, lots of calf shelters and good bedding help minimize young calves around the feeders to be stepped on, but doesn't eliminate it. I do think more bale feeders helps distribute traffic. When it gets to mucky I i move the feeder over to better ground. They waste more hay than I like at times but I don't think its as bad as youre describing. | |
