I've had terminated, headed out cereal rye "save" newly emerged soybeans from a May hailstorm before, 2016. Little chance for crusted soil and poor emergence where you plant green as well. There are many more benefits to planting green than you think. Best advice so far is to terminate way early, aka brown and crunchy, or after planting. Unless your trying to smooth a field out, don't work it.
