WC Iowa | This post is not to point a finger at the original poster but rather an observation about farmers in general. Wanting to spend money as the first reaction to planning to improve a persons soil shows how brainwashed farmers have become due to agribusiness making our first reaction to a problem one of looking for something we can buy. Working with nature never crosses most farmers mind. For example, we have started seeding a cover crop of winter wheat behind corn stalks going to soybeans. Last year there was far less weed pressure where we used the cover crop. We need more years success to say the wheat made the difference, but it convinced me to use the cover crop on all my acres going to soybeans this year. Nature can probably do more for us than many farmers realize. | |
