I plant 10 acres a year for exactly what you are wanting to do. Manure, disc twice, plant, roll with cultimulcher. I combine the oats for calf feed. I have 3 old gravity wagons I tarp and put in shed with the oats in them. They keep well. Some years I think man why am I doing this but when the price of straw went up steady it's cheaper to have my own plus the oats to feed. Red robin seeds Either the shelby or the hayden plant at 90lbs I did 80 one year and got half a bale (5x6 round bale) to the acres less but they stood really good!
