| I just finished "Light it Up" - by Nick Petrie. It is a fictional murder mystery book about the hijacking of two major shipments of cash within Colorado. The money is from a medical marijuana grower and obviously puts the operation in serious hurts. Within the story, the breeding of marijuana for highly desirable traits is discussed, and a very small but very expensive quantity of a specific line of marijuana seeds are involved.
This got my inquiring mind to wondering (or is it wandering?).
While the hemp industry has been around for decades enjoying various popularity and demand swings, is there any interest by the major corn and soybean seed firms in legal marijuana and hemp plant traits and quality? (Okay, I recognize this is an open industry espionage question)
The values being talked about in the fictional writing opened the realization that the major seed companies are highly (pun intended) likely to be at least watching. | |
