| Dad went down that route with the Rantoul, Illinois plant named Meadowbrook. Somehow the lawyer that put the cooperative paperwork together got himself hired on as the plant manager. Then proceeded to run the plant and the members' checkbooks into the ground for the next 3 years. It took a year long court battle for the members to get out.
For a stretch they were paying $20/hd under market price and still lost money. None of the board members had the backbone to fire the manager and move forward. Makes you wonder if they were getting paid off or just stupid.
