West central missouri | If the big 4 beef packers made an additional $400,000,000 this week alone they have a pretty big war chest to crush any start up. Lots of ways to do it and they do it all. Outbid for live animals. Undercut your customers. Purchase regulators to harass small competitors as well as loosen import restriction to allow market manipulation. Co-op the NCBA that is supposed to represent producers. Purchase senators and congressmen thru political action committees for favorable legislation. Control longshoremens unions so small competitors trucks are not unloaded (what do you do with a reefer of chilled meat sitting idle in New York?). Use the huge piles of money that wash thru their business each week to launder other income sources. In the past Teamsters union creating backlog of transportation. Use environmental nuts and animal rights nuts to harass day to day operations. The list goes on of the way our "partners" keep competitors out and producers in their grip. And if you even talk about it you are ostracized.
