Subject: Congress Fights Plans to cut farm subsidies

Martinsville, Ohio

If this is old news, I apologize.

CONGRESS FIGHTS PLAN TO CUT FARM PAYMENTS
> The House and Senate agriculture committees went on record against cuts in
> U.S. farm supports last week, saying President Obama's budget proposal to
> cut direct payments is dead. The House Ag Committee approved, on a
> bipartisan voice vote, a letter opposing farm bill cuts. Leaders of the
> Senate Agriculture Committee joined the House committee in saying there
> should be no cuts.
> Also last week, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack authored an editorial
> saying "direct payments were never intended to be around this long," but
> said in a separate interview that the administration is "absolutely
> dedicated to preserving the safety net for farmers."
