I don't think I'd feed weaned calves snapplage (or steakmaker)

When i fed holsteins, i'd still feed calf starter for a few weeks after they are weaned.

I would feed:

calf starter (10ish weeks)>>> whole shell corn + 40-0 pellet (300#) >>> snapplage + liq sup (finish)

In the transition I would mix the two feeds as well. Maybe I was too cautious but I think weaned calves need a higher density feed.


I found moving away from a prepared starter to something that I mixed really helped consumption AND growth.
(Did that because I wasn't happy with how the animals reacted to 'bought starter' and also thought the markup was just far too high.)
